Evonik modernizes logistics infrastructure for MetAMINO® in Antwerp

“We are seeing increasing demand for larger packaging formats in the methionine market,” says Dr. Dirk Hoehler, responsible for Evonik Animal Nutrition's amino acid activities. “With the new, advanced filling facility, we are well equipped to meet current and future customer needs.”

In addition to big bags (1,000 kilograms), MetAMINO® from Antwerp is also available in 25-kilogram bags and as a bulk product. A few months ago, Evonik introduced a more environmentally friendly 25-kilogram packaging for methionine, consisting of only two layers of paper. This has a 20% lower CO₂ footprint than the old packaging with a plastic layer.

Evonik serves growing feed and animal nutrition markets from three large-scale production sites in different parts of the world: Antwerp/Wesseling, Mobile (Alabama, USA), and Singapore. The global annual production capacity for MetAMINO® now exceeds 700,000 tons.

MetAMINO® is used in livestock farming to feed animals in a healthy, efficient, and sustainable manner. With a scientifically based approach, Evonik's Animal Nutrition business line develops products, services, and system solutions that contribute to providing a growing world population with healthy, high-quality, and affordable animal protein.
